Highlights#

A Passage That Moved You#

Seeing this passage at the end, I immediately recalled the hermit’s prophecy from the middle of the story. The correspondence between beginning and end, combined with the imagery presented by the text, was beautiful beyond words.

Iona came down, turned to look at me, showing a big smile. “Callum, look,” she said: “The hermit was right.” Iona bent over, reaching toward me with her breath-surrounded right foreleg. I glided like waves past her feet; she stood at the top of the world, crossing the bright sea of clouds. “The mountains go on and on,” Iona said: “Just stretching out like this, without end.”

He saw me high in the sky, I walked across the sea of clouds formed by white clouds, the world under my feet. My father thought this meant I was about to die. The hermit is never wrong.

Interesting or Unexpected Parts#

Looking at the introduction and classification, I originally thought it would be a light and warm novel, but halfway through the story, a tragedy suddenly occurred. Thanks for that.

Suitable Readers:

Recommended for those who want to relax with a book that doesn’t require much thinking, just savoring the story following the author’s prose.

Summary:

The story is short but meaningful, with tight pacing and vivid portrayal, full of imagery like watching a movie. Although the midpoint twist is hard to accept at first, the plot and the hope brought by the ending leave you with a relieved and relaxed feeling after finishing.
